Let It Be Known

Let It Be Known

A Poem by Chris Shaw

Come silver sisters, let us age
with confidence, be unafraid.
Reflections in the looking glass
can not portray our qualities.

Can not reveal attributes earned,
what we have learned in traveled years.
Concealed within us, not on show,
but when ignited, how we glow,
and still we set the world alight.

The stars that sparkle in the dark
are not snuffed out, they are not dimmed.
Their beauty lingers, always will.
They do not fade and hide in fright,
they bring their glory out at night.

Strength and power in womanhood. I love how you wear the shield and challenge the years with confidence and grace. So much to learn from your beautiful soul, you're a fountain of knowledge and an aspect of admiration. Preach Christine, let it be known to the world how amazing a woman truly is!

Well said that lady. There is a beauty in the " more mature woman"
that the younger, more vain, still self searching for themselves, younger women do not possess. A woman happy in her skin, content, knowing, is extremely attractive.
Hope you are well Christine, have a good day.

A lovely tribute to women--especially those who are no longer considered youthful.
As for me, the riper fruit always tastes even sweeter.

I look in the mirror and do not see myself, only a reflection of myself. The story of our lives can not be told in a mirror. Inside each of us are a million stories to be told that only we know.
Silver sisters be not afraid for attributes earned set worlds ablaze.
I loved this poem.

Thank you so much for your response. I appreciate your valued words.

At any age we women need unity to stand together and support and celebrate women in general. Angela Merkel, Teresa May, Christine Lagarde , Hillary Clinton, Helen Mirren look at these bold and brilliant women! They can teach some world leaders dignity and tact, with age comes wisdom and serenity and courage as well. The message in your poem is empowering, we should appreciate mature women for their wisdom and beauty that comes with age. Wonderful writing.

Love this. If I must grow old and wither I prefer to burn like a maple leaf in a burst of color and glory such that it puts the flowers of spring to shame.
