There's an old scripture which reads, "They have healed the hurt of the daughter of my people by saying, "Peace, peace", when there is no peace." And I suppose we shall always have hatred, wars, arguments and intolerance mingled with vanity, oppression, prejudice and fear. They can burst our bubble of safety and serenity more often than not. Sometimes we just have to believe in the dawn to get us through the night or hope for a rainbow after the storm. I enjoyed the read, my friend; eloquently expressed. Bless.

Thank you Fabian. Your words very much appreciated.
We can write a poem about anything, can't we?
And we can project an inner disturbance on just about any outer event.
Profoundly creative, Chris!

Probably either very, very early or very late for you Jimmy. Thank you for your review. We could write a poem about anything, but only if the muse is in a good mood. I find mine very moody. lol.
This is so creative & powerful! I also write mostly fun or funny stuff, but I’m always aware that I’m hiding behind such shallow mirth, hiding from the many tragedies too plentiful to respond to adequately these days. It’s so imaginative the way you describe the heart-shaped cloud & the plane piercing it. That’s one of the most imaginative & vivid metaphors I’ve ever read. Your poem perfectly describes my constant battle with trying to write upbeat material in a downtrodden world (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

A peace- pie and a sadly burst cloud/bubble are great metaphors for the ups and downs of life Chris. Your skyward musing is eloquent, contemplative, thought provoking, wistful. Lovely form, flow, cadence, rhyme. Man creates and man destroys, sometimes indiscriminately. I feel your sadness and share it. Wishing you sunshine and no torn clouds today my friend. Superb writing.

Such sharp piercing imagery, Christine, and words that convey a darkness. As I finished reading this poem, I thought about how nature's beings, and those created by man, often encroach in our world. And, that trail of ice crystals through the perfect heart exemplifies how we (humans) can disrupt the natural beauty and peace. Nice work!

clever piece of writing...the rhymes, the fluid lines singing of hope shattered...of how there are always those who circle us waiting to scavenge on our dead hopes and dreams...feasting on the broken hearts.

Albert, my paternal grandfather introduced me to Tennyson when I was nine. I have loved poetry ever since but did not attempt writing a single piece until I was 40. It's never too late to try somethin.. more..
