A Poem by Chris Shaw

When I held you that first time,
the joy I felt that you were mine,
and tiny you wrapped in my arms
content and sleeping peacefully.

How could I fathom or begin
to quantify that love within,
that swelled and fluttered through my heart
with loving unconditionally.

And now my dear how you have grown,
to birth some children of your own,
but I remember always will
the thrill I had when meeting you.

In our culture, there is a story about a child's sleeping expressions when he is at some age of 10 to 15 days ..it's something like that:
sometimes God says to the child in his dream "Look, your house is burning", then he tries to open his eyes..
then "Look, your dad leaves you", then he starts to cry while he is sleeping
but when God says "Look, your mom has left you", then he smiles and says "No because I'm in her lap'
so the thing is even God can't make a child detached from his mother even in sleep with a cute humorous way. your poem has reminded me of this bonding..very beautiful!

Beautiful. Must be the strangest sensation having another body grow inside your own. Can't begin to imagine the love a mother feels by t know that I would do anything to keep my own daughter safe and well.

Thank you Gee. Peculiar sensations at first, especially if you are suffering from morning sickness.
