In our culture, there is a story about a child's sleeping expressions when he is at some age of 10 to 15 days ..it's something like that:
sometimes God says to the child in his dream "Look, your house is burning", then he tries to open his eyes..
then "Look, your dad leaves you", then he starts to cry while he is sleeping
but when God says "Look, your mom has left you", then he smiles and says "No because I'm in her lap'
so the thing is even God can't make a child detached from his mother even in sleep with a cute humorous way. your poem has reminded me of this bonding..very beautiful!

Sadly only for me once, but hey then three grandchildren came later and I have a brood :) Thank you Neville. It's been a long while since I read this poem.
Beautifully scribed, with tenderest care only a new mother could when gazing upon the sweet face, into the soft, innocent eyes of her heavenly created and laboriously birthed, precious infant.
I simply love writing-in and reading well composed Free Style poetry, and this piece is about as appealing as it gets.
Seems you always reach in, touch my heart, and bless my lips a gentle, misty-eyed smile.
Thank you, Chris, for being You ⁓ Richard 🍃

This is beautiful! How I dream of the day I get to experience this feeling and imprint that tiny face and that precious smile in my head for forever and a day.

Love them. Flesh and blood. I see it with my wife and our son. Yes, she gets angry, but so cute when she isso tender with him, still like the day he was born.

Nothing like a mother's love Maxwell. Pleased to receive your kind comments.
This is a lyrical lullaby that conveys both the sensations of the scene, reflected in the way your phrasing sounds, plus some distinct relatable descriptions of how this must feel for most moms. I love the way you pack a lifetime into your simple poem, reaching into the child’s grown-up aspects, while still holding on to the way it first felt & will always feel. Never having been able to have kids, I’m always fascinated to read an account of motherhood that’s as palpable as yours (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

Happy Mother's Day! ( in Brasil we celebrate Mother's Day tomorrow, the second Sunday of May. )The most beautiful gift from you, to your gift! You have expressed brilliantly the very purest and genuine feelings of a mother. Loved your Poem.
Albert, my paternal grandfather introduced me to Tennyson when I was nine. I have loved poetry ever since but did not attempt writing a single piece until I was 40. It's never too late to try somethin.. more..
