When Sun Illuminates a Sapphire Sky

When Sun Illuminates a Sapphire Sky

A Poem by Chris Shaw

When sun illuminates a sapphire sky
and rays make dancing gems upon this stream,
a breeze blows softly through the verdant leaves
and I am left to wander as I dream.

My back rests arched against the bark of pine,
my toes stretch closer to the water's flow
and cooling crystal laps about my feet,
my roller-coaster life begins to slow.

In harmony my heartbeat and my mind,
I drift into a meditative state.
I hear the sounds, sweet nature as she calls,
the world I know is absent, it can wait.

I do so love, admire and relate as not all try can or will appreciate the bedecked, ornate beauty of mother-nature with her soothing almost hypnotic effect when one with an observing eye opens up and permits this wondrous rhythmic relationship to blend, take hold as one drifts into the fluffy white clouds high above ..

' In harmony my heartbeat and my mind,
I drift into a meditative state.
I hear the sounds, sweet nature as she calls,
the world I know is absent, it can wait ''

Inspiring gem of a poem! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Most of us are aware of what effects the daily grind can have on us. Sometimes it becomes necessary to get completely away from it, if only for a while. That is what the speaker here is doing, apparently in a natural setting. The breeze, the feeling of the tree against her back and the waters of the stream caressing her feet all lull her into a meditative state. Let the world wait. I fully agree.

Time out for yourself, getting back to nature, it’s like a well needed recharge to prepare for more modern day hurdles we have to jump over. There’s so much peace in solitude but little time to appreciate it. Nice writing Chris.

I really like the conversational tone of the final quatrain, its tip of the hat to reality and the conscious choice to ignore it.

A lovely poem of what solitude is like and the chance for you mind to wander to secret places way out there...dreams are the best and we should seek them more often to get away from this chaotic world of ours..... we all need some solace once in a while and as you've portrayed, there is not a place a beautiful as the one you are sitting by.
Best, B.

It is nice when we fall off into a daydream while relaxing out in nature. I could feel this sensation by reading your words today my friend. Really a lovely poem.

This was posted a couple of years ago, wow. I saw someone reviewing it in my feed and I had to click because the name is just so beautiful. Good job picking a name that'll hook your readers, Chris!! :)
This poem was beautiful. I loved the personification "and rays make dancing gems upon this stream," and I loved the imagery you created with this wonderful poem. A wave of calm washed over me as I read. Thank you for sharing your thoughts and poetry with us, Chris!!!

You're very welcome, Chris!! :)
I was happy to read it. :)
Wow -- each and every word and moment of this masterpiece seems so intentional and yet so simple in its profound beauty. Real, surreal, unreal -- whatever the case may be, such a wild and wonderful moment of mindfulness. I am in awe of this, not even in a yearning way so much as an appreciative one. Bless you.

Thank you Rapunzel. Yes, nature can calm me down and make me relax and drive all those cares away.
This is really an awesome description of a peaceful nature setting. Many aspects of your writing here are similar to my own, so I'm carried away by your words! *wink! wink!* All the things I love about being outdoors! I love the way you describe how this setting relaxes your mind & spirit (((HUGS))) fondly, Margie
