When Sun Illuminates a Sapphire Sky

When Sun Illuminates a Sapphire Sky

A Poem by Chris Shaw

When sun illuminates a sapphire sky
and rays make dancing gems upon this stream,
a breeze blows softly through the verdant leaves
and I am left to wander as I dream.

My back rests arched against the bark of pine,
my toes stretch closer to the water's flow
and cooling crystal laps about my feet,
my roller-coaster life begins to slow.

In harmony my heartbeat and my mind,
I drift into a meditative state.
I hear the sounds, sweet nature as she calls,
the world I know is absent, it can wait.

I do so love, admire and relate as not all try can or will appreciate the bedecked, ornate beauty of mother-nature with her soothing almost hypnotic effect when one with an observing eye opens up and permits this wondrous rhythmic relationship to blend, take hold as one drifts into the fluffy white clouds high above ..

At times we require that retreat in nature's very lap, even if it be for a short while. Often it's as if she calls us herself, showing subtle signs which we can grasp. When we decide to ignore these, we may as well find ourselves trapped in our worldly issues. Fine imagery where I can see myself in repose in that merging point of dream and reality. Nicely written.

That roller coaster life still beats in the heart while everything else about feels to have slowed, that is where it's at for me as well. The meditation and perchance the writing results. For once, yes, they all can wait, world and all! A triumph. And to think this was pre-pandemonium. Good to revisit and live out.

Dear Chris,
I was lost in the lovely scene for a few moments, along with you. Picturing the sparkling water, feeling the sweet breeze. Nature is powerful in its effect over us and has such potential to move us to a hypnotic state. I think a few such moments away from the world can have such a therapeutic effect on the mind and heart. A poem that is to be read and over and over again for the sheer joy it brings.

I hope spring rushes, dear friend.
You're most welcome. 🙋‍♀️💕
Heaven can wait when we have own own bit of paradise here on earth. This certainly sounds like it might fit the bill. I always loved the "star sapphires" because the star appears to be moving inside the gem with the light. This poem echoes the movement of the spheres. God is in His heaven and all's right with the world to quote Browning. Nicely done, I very much enjoyed.

Despite being north of the border, I have doth heard of this an anemily... Amonally... Anomaly (phew,, cheers Alexa) and its clamming... Calming rithm mick... Rhythmic pulse, senor aiding... Seronading the stresses aweigh... Away. (Where's all these chatbots I keep herring about?)
In moments like these, the world can wait Chris. Maybe even when we wake from our calming snooze, we'll find the last five years we're all a dream and "HOW MUCH FOR A MOCHALATTECINO?"...
ach, never mind! 😊
