Interlude

Interlude

A Poem by Chris Shaw

Gentle waves of crystal kindness,
edging closer to my feet,
as I laze upon these pebbles,
smooth and flattened on their surface,
by the power of the sea.

As I lie here contemplating
nothing more than naked toes,
empty thoughts are more than healing,
as the creeping, calming briny
cleanses me of all my woes.

This is a soothing poem of nature's healing power and self reflection. Beautifully written a baptism of awareness and self enlightenment. The metaphor is amazing in its simplicity as is nature itself. The more I read it the deeper it goes. I rest upon your words like the pebbles contemplating the depths of its waves of meaning. It is so succinct that to say any part of it is my favorite it to take away from the rest.

The simplicity & reality of this seaside scene is captivated here. There's nowhere like being at the sea. The pebbles, the sand, the rich smell, the waves. Very calming and peaceful. A nice read Chris

I agree; it's healing to empty the clutter in one's mind, and not a better place to do it than by the seashore.. where one can meditate and be mesmerized by the flapping waves as they roil into shore....vivid images...

I really enjoy the word choices here as it lulls like the sea is lulling the narrator, a nice quiteness to all of it that makes it seem real.

Sounds like that all too familiar lazy afternoons where the voluminous voice of the sea and the open expanse of sky brings us to a place of healing - like walking into white noise and sleeping through the night. Such interludes are rare and coveted!

To me, the main healing advantage of nature is that our busy minds seem to go blank in the face of such grandeur. You've shown how this can also happen in the face of those simple natural delights. You've shown the beauty of not overthinking. Love your caressing imagery (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

I am not sure why, because I read some totally amazing poems of healing and spirits from You, but this has a certain power, as if the healing power of the sea comes across your lines, I enjoyed reading it, and enjoyed sharing your interlude, I feel I was really there. Thank You dear Chris 💕
