Red

Red

A Poem by Cass

The stains on your underwear when you wake up one morning.
The hole in your heart, when your father walked out the door.
The color of your neck, when she flirts with you on the street.
Her hair, as she buries her face in your shoulder at the funeral.
The smell of roses at your wedding.
The rage that blinds you when you catch her cheating.
The fire that burns in your stomach when you walk away.
The feeling that boils under your skin when she leaves.
The stain of the last goodbye you ever say.
