Trotting Between Trails

Trotting Between Trails

A Poem by cassandra violet

Often times I see glimpses of my heart’s thoughts,

pumping passionately in dreams,

but my mind is a cave shading the beats seeking in shadow,

selfish, stubborn, afraid.

It peeks at the glimpses of the risky road my core flashes,

gazing breathlessly at the cryptic colors,

the strange precious tints, the illuminated images of the incessant,

but right when my feet step off this street of the known,

they retreat, They flee deeper back to the journey of predictability,

pacing wildly down the cracked pavement,

staring sadly between that of the voluminous vast

and that of the visible, the road in which I now walk-

linear lines marching mechanically to a mountain in front of me,

the sight I’ll have to watch until my breath stops.

My dearest thoughts, my conscious mind, my reason,

you have to make a decision,

will you live and die on this gravel?

Listening to the successive echo of your soles,

drowning in angst at your fate, the destination of this direct drive.

Or will you listen to the song of your soul?

Will you let your heart gallop,

Gliding in the glow of adventure,

Swaying in the shimmers of excitement,

Kissing the sphere of sky’s secrets,

And finally feel what it means to be living.

Beautiful. This poem has everything, from an original arrangement to a powerful message to fantastic poetic devices--I especially adore the alliteration in "linear lines marching mechanically to a mountain in front of me." And the statement/question closing the poem, as others have remarked, are invigorating.

I'm glad this is the first poem of yours I read, for now I am certain to read many others. You have great talent.

The way you write is incredible to me. You create so much feeling and so many images its fantastic. It's what I love about your writing. I know I'm never going to be let down and by the time I reach the last line, I know I'll feel something. Great work.

You have a gift with words. These words create the imagery of a deep, dark valley of thoughts. "will you live or die on this gravel?" I love the power of this doubt. Well done!

This is probably very personal to you,but it makes me feel a want to get the whole of people off the beaten path and stop the fear of freeing ourselves from tyranny. This poem speaks to everyone's fear of the unknown path. The path hidden by nature is the natural way.I love this poem

It was all lovely ,the last line said it all
when will you feel what it means to be alive..ohh mind
dont fret stop calculating everything..stop to ever care
let the heart takes the lead for a while,it knows how
to see the wild ,and blunder into the deep of unknown
you could sink down ,yes for a while ,till breath almost lost
but if its fate that you see a light and breathe again
how will you see some very different life, every minute
every second ,every while..life will see so colorful
will feel so strange ,and beautiful, you will never
regret you ever lived even for a while..like eternity
lovely write..
