Hidden RoadsA Poem by cassandra violetA poem about getting your heart broken and then finding hope againYour lips released a bullet from their cage Whispered words became wounds Dug deep in my flesh to the gates of hell which called to you, Welcoming you with a hiss The glare in your eyes was poison penetrating my mind, Thrusting itself into my veins, sinking into my cells. Your back turned and with it my spine crumbled to the floor, The floor in which your parting steps sounded and echoed Like thunder against a quiet night. Memories drenched me in rain, But once I had laid shivering in their puddles for too long, The clouds drained and the grey they had painted over the stars Faded to the kiss of time And though my body lay cold and darkness blinded my eyes The freckled light above me was a match, my soul became wood When that flame erupted it dried me in warmth, The heat of its rays made your hands feel cold, Its light shone bright like a vast horizon of strong suns Which revealed a road I had not been able to see When I had been guided by the faded flicker of your eyes. © 2010 cassandra violetReviews
