The Shia/Sunni Split

We had a project in history class. I chose to do rhymes. I thought it might be fun to put them on here. This is a rhyme about the Shia/Sunni split in Islam. It's not that good, but it's not meant to be.

 

Muhammad, Islam’s prophet and teacher

Became a fairly good preacher

When Muhammad, Islam’s teacher and prophet, died

Islam needed a new caliph, a leader and ruler

Some thought it should be a descendant

Others thought a good person would be cooler

So these two groups became independent

The first called themselves Shia, the second was the Sunni

Each one thought the other people were loony

These two Islamic groups fought

It really made them quite distraught

The Shia and Sunni just could not agree

On who should be caliph, you see

Abu Bakr became caliph, the very first

This made some angry and brought out their worst

The split didnt occur suddenly. It actually occurred due to the fact that Shittes killed Hussain (I belive) which is the son of Ali. Thus, Shitties beat themselves since they themselves erred in killing Hussain and blame themselves for their mistake.

True Muslims both sects do fight amongst each other. However, this has occured more recently then it did in the past.
