Chapter 2

       Orion finally sat me down when we arrived in Gotha, Germany. It took us about half an hour to get there. It would have taken anyone else, other than other Hunters, days to get there from L.A. and that would be with airplanes and other vehicles. I was so angry with him for giving me not even a second to process what he had said before throwing me over his shoulder like a ten-pound sack of potatoes. I almost started yelling until I realized that we were in the presence of Zeus. His tall, muscular frame is what every girl dreams of and all of the ancients thought of when sculpting their gods. His blonde hair was the color of honey-covered straw. When I looked into his eyes, the blue that was the same color as Orion’s eyes shocked me. This was their one and only similarity, everything about him and Zeus was exactly opposite, as I would learn in the coming weeks.

       "Zeus," I addressed our leader as I curtsied in jeans like a fool, "what was so urgent that you couldn't send a letter and let me walk on my own?"

       "My dearest Elizabeth," my name sounded angelic coming from his mouth and made my knees week, "how could I ever let the most beautiful Hunter walk here without protection?" The words flowed from his mouth and brushed against my ears like silk.

       Forgetting that I was the only female of our species, I blushed the color of blood and giggled like a little girl. I gained my composure and answered, "Your grace, I have been walking by myself for centuries, I believe I am big enough to handle it on my own. Thank you for your concern for my safety, but on to why you called me here, if you don't mind."

       "Oh of course my dear, I called you here because you are one of the only full bloods left and the only female for that matter and there are not enough Hunters left to deal with the growing numbers of blood suckers, living dead, and dog men. My love I-"

       "You want me to BREED!?!?!?!? You brought me here to BREED!? We can breed with any species and come out on top and you brought me here to breed? Why would you ever think that I would want to breed with any of the Hunters? What have the Hunters ever done for me?"

       "Elizabeth, I did not bring you here to breed."

       "Then why did you bring me here?"

       "Elizabeth, darling, I brought you here to marry you. I want us to be the most powerful couple the world has ever seen. We could rule the world. Our children would be the strongest ever seen," he was now kneeling before me, "Elizabeth, marry me?"

       "I-I need to think about it"

       "I understand. I should not have sprung it on you like that. The first time you meet your leader should not be the time he proposes. Take all the time you need. Orion, escort Elizabeth to her room."

       "Yes."

       With that, we were gone. This time they let me walk, but Orion refused to let me walk alone. He and a guard of five surrounded me. When we arrived at my rooms, yes, rooms, he instructed me to bathe and change for dinner. "What should I change into?" I asked because I had not brought anything except the clothes on my back.

       "The clothes in the closet fit you," he said very sure of himself.
