Stop telling people that no one will love them until they love themselves. Stop planting the idea in people's brains that they are unworthy of love because of their own struggle.
While I would never put it to someone in that way, I do believe that loving one's self is important and quite useful. If we walk around feeling like we're dirt, it will show. (Especially when hoping to find romance.) I'm no kind of expert, of course, just an introvert who suffered many years of low self-esteem.

I'm grateful for my uneventful and normal childhood as it made it easier for me to resist adopting others' bad opinions of me. My struggles have been primarily my disappointment in others that I wanted to trust or turn to.

And those that say It, seem to never have heard the phrase too many cooks. So many experts on love, yet so little evidence to back them up. Will we ever learn? :)

Well bad for them...... (no pity in my eyes).. World is cruel......
I agree with this so much. Being abused as a child, it took decades for me to love myself. Can you imagine if nobody loved me thru my healing struggle? This could be made into a poem . . .

I agree, this could be worked up into quite the thought provoking piece. Say....by a real poet such as yourself? Eh?
I'm very cynical, jaded, just this side of bitter and the only reason I haven't crossed that line is a good man loves me. I am extremely empathetic, but seldom sympathetic. I can be a ferociously lo.. more..
