A Prisoner of Time

A Prisoner of Time

A Poem by caseymichelle31

'Time heals all wounds'
Please tell me more
I've spent too much time attempting
To heal these relentless scars
So tell me, tell me
Where is the end?

'Time waits for no one'
It has no heart, no sympathy for those in suffering
I can't do this by myself
So tell me, tell me when
I've grown so impatient

I see her in my dreams,
The stars, my night sky,
My every thought, even the air that I breathe
So tell me, tell me
When will she just disappear?

Haunted by a ghost on every hall I walk
Eyes lock and I remember
Why I risked everything I had
Because she's what I need
What I've always needed

If Time heals all wounds
Please tell me when it will heal mine
I'm locked in a waiting room watching for the day
When I'm no longer tormented by my own thoughts
So tell me, please tell me
When will time set me free?

Unless we can move beyond what we agonize over, we can become prisoners of our own angst. When this occurs, time seems like it stands still and entraps us. Is it time that sets us free? Or is it our ability to forgive ourselves and move on with clear conscience? I have only been able to find this solution in Jesus.

Your poem asks the questions many ask and you have done a good job with it :)

I really like this one Casey! I thought it was excellent. I liked the play on sayings based on 'time'.

Thank you very much! :)
This reminds me of Phantom of the Opera, and I adore that play to bits. I certainly like this and the illustrations your words portray, the sheer haunting of someone trapped in memory, and the general anxiety beheld by the fear of aforementioned someone escaping and being able to clutch onto you.
Time might not heal all wounds, and you've said it wonderfully.

People always say that time heals all wounds, but it sure doesn't feel like it sometimes, does it? This poem is really, really good. I'm pretty sure it's my favorite that you've written.

It is difficult to move forward from such pain and heartache. You did a great job expressing this. My favorite lines were these:

"I'm locked in a waiting room watching for the day
When I'm no longer tormented by my own thoughts"

Great work! :)
