Nineteen

Nineteen

A Poem by caseymichelle31
"

A poem I wrote for a competition for the Road Safety Authority

"
Nineteen Springs
From the day of his birth,
His fate had been caused
By his own carelessness

Nineteen Summers
Did he even give a damn?
He looked super cool
The inconsiderate fool

Nineteen Autumns
The glass covers the streets
Innocent tears pollute the air
How could that possibly be fair?

Nineteen Winters
Their graves so new
It could have been stopped
Slow down

That's all you had to do.

Poignant portrayal of the dangers on the road without road safety, and the early death it could bring upon to those that are ignorant to the safety measures of the road. The message you express is like a slap in the face, considering that he dies when he was only 19. Fine poem!

This nearly made me cry. I was in a horrific accident in 2010 and I still have nightmares about it. Great job with this.

A gut-wrenching, different way to use seasons in conjunction with a lifetime. Very nice and definitely poignant.

you're welcome.
Good message here, it kind of smacks you upside the head which makes it better. Sad thought....did you win the competition?

Good luck, I think you have a great chance of winning. :-)
Certainly a message many people need to hear. The amount of careless driving nowadays could so easily be prevented... if only people would just take the time and slow down... it saves lives.
