A Season of Love

A Season of Love

A Poem by caseymichelle31
"

This poem is an ode to the simplicity of childhood.

"
Let's go back some time ago
A time when life was simple
A friend was just a playmate
There was such a childish twinkle

In our eyes
But life is ever-changing
As the seasons came and gone
Our leaves, they grew
And our buds were left behind

Now a friend
But then a lover
We played a game
Unlike any other

My life became a garden
The Spring was never-ending
The wind was but a whisper
In the thorn entwined bedding

That was my head
A war zone at best
A state I'm yet to shake
Since Winter arrived

At your departure
The trees, they died
A faultless murder
But how I cried

Let's go back some time ago
A time when life was simple
A lover was just a friend
The twinkle

Is now dead and gone
The garden was just pretend
Our eyes, now
Are dark and cold

I sit in silence
Remembering the Spring
The wind no longer a whisper
The haunting breeze sings

Your name

Within this poem lies a reminiscing and a pulling back to reality, a concept that most of us are familiar with. I've gone through this countless of times up to now and I must say, it hurts more every time. Well done, you've captured the childish essence as well as pertaining to the concept of reality and the emotions serving as anchors that prevent you from swaying around the ocean of our life.

I love the finality of it. And the implications that even through good times it is known that bad times are ahead. Rather depressing but sometimes it takes depression to make us think enough to want to change things. Great job! Love it!

Friend turned lover... lover becomes lost. A tale woven into so many people's lives. Great job with this one Casey!

Thank you so much! That means a lot :)
This poem gave me chills. Life is all different seasons and when the bleakness of winter comes, the memory of balmy summers and new-beginning springs seem all but a dream. But hope brings spring anew.

Sorry got off the review and into an encouragement and reflection :)

I love the way this poem makes me feel - because I identify with it in my life.

Peace and Love
