water

water

A Poem by carynolivia

There's no embrace
which quite matches
the comfort of water
whose liquid limbs encircle
your every bone
and snuggly hug
the dips and bends in your framework;
whose warmth
swallows you up
and fills you whole.

Careful she doesn't try to kiss you though,
Heaven knows you're far too young for that.

Thank you very much!
You excell at a psycho-poetic exploration of themes, I find they are lucid and quite often tongue-in-cheek which raises the bar as to how relatable they are to your audience.

Something so simple as water is yet so essential and has multiple-meaning in our culture.

Fron consumption, to thirst, to the symbolism of an all-sustaining principle or our roots (coming from the ocean as all life did). I'm a huge fan of your writing, a couple of the lines really stood out for me:

1. whose liquid limbs encircle

Thank you so much; glad you're enjoying what I write.
I thought the last line was pretty clever. Lots of people are afraid of water, especially the ocean with the riptides and currents leading you off to china. {Joke there}. But there are those who enjoy it and I certainly did when I wore a younger man's clothes as the song says. I remember diving down for pennies at the bottom of the pool at night with the back porch light embracing my deep sea adventure. Those were fun times as the water ("snugly) hugged my framework." You brought back some memories and for that I thank you.

Thank you very much! I'm glad to have helped in that nostalgia department!
the dips and bends in your framework;
whose warmth
swallows you up
and fills you whole.

Nice concept. I love the fact that it's about water too. I read one tremendous poem about water by Nikki Finney and I've been intrigued by water poems since. Thanks for sharing :)
