the duel

the duel

A Poem by caryhoneybee

sorry to have disturbed you.
'thought i could despair in private,
but much to your chagrin the happy mask fell off my face
and i can't keep it tied on quite like i used to.
it's just to please you.
really, it's not you, it's me.

so, sorry to have left you alone
on your pedestal throne
but you know how precarious adoration can be.
not that you've much cared to notice,
but, those adoring looks were from my eyes,
the same ones which saw through your quiet lies.
all you know is that warm is gone
and then you say,"woe is me."

look this way.
i'll look that.
and back to back
let the duelists begin their dance
so sad the end of romance
but as saint augustine said,
"it is better to have loved and lost..,
etcetera, etcetera
blah, blah, blah
who cares anyway
if G-d is love,
then G-d is dead.

I really like this. Good job of writing. I can feel every word.
We rarely despair in private, its a weeping, seeping kind of thing.
