A Poem by Blackstone Featherfall

we all want
similar things
light through
the shades
bright colors
shimmering
dinners at
the table

we all want
better things
lit brains
easier
pathways
new cut
wings

we all need
more things
i say
we need
nothing

but
learning lessons
take to
being tested
burning
every
last
documented
second

the birds
in the skies
are to
the lions
in the fields
as we
are the worms
to the
worlds
nesting frame

so i say
we need
nothing
just keep
these
simple things

like salt
like water
like chalk
like daughters
find trout
for our
stomachs
then sprout
ageless wonders

if you stay
clean and i
tattoo
my body
or if you
stay soiled
and i always
hover
does that make
you the wiser?
or am i
enjoying
something more
godly?

i think we
just go
our own
ways

because i bet
you have
lost your
mind before
maybe even set
some fires

it all comes down
to originality
and i bet
i've got more

show me
something
open up
your door
we will stay
back in
time
and need
only our
comforts
