I Liked the PictureA Poem by carrotcruncherNot sure if this counts as a poem or a story, maybe someone can enlighten me.I Liked the Picture.
I visited an art gallery with some friends from the city. Inside, untouched by weather and lit by industrial lamps, a picture. A reflection of the countryside, an Artists impression, a vista, a view. People were drawn, captivated by the scene. They commented on subtle hues and powerful strokes. They spoke of bold colours and light, of a perfect composition. the eruption of life and dark undercurrent with intent drawing the seeker in. I liked the picture.
At home, past the trees, I turn to gaze upon the valley. In spring the sun casts its rays on the lambs who dance. The woodpeckers hammer for their soul and the last of the cool winds prickle my skin, while the birds sing songs of romance. In summer the sheep dream under shading trees. The preying birds majestic, crowning trees dressed in robes of green. Nuthatch's trill with laughter while singing Nightingales regale with daring tales and sad ballads. In autumn the wet winds bring deep pools. Fierce gales blow the trees, who howl as their leaves rich in colours of reds, golds, purples and copper are torn free and borne, bobbing like fishing boats racing afore the storm. In winter the valley is clothed in white. The trees are dark, stripped bare. The icy tendrils of wind prise their way through gaps in my clothing. Snowy tracks spiral their way up the valley, their painters long dispersed.
I liked the picture, I like mine more. © 2014 carrotcruncherReviews
