Puppet

Puppet

A Poem by Liz

Bitter laughter clambers
from this aching soul.
A heart once engulfed in fire
has dwindled into coal.

Every promise broken
Every kiss betrayed
Words remain unspoken
Truth remains unplayed.

Moments pounding entry
into this battered shell;
You're begging to feel empty
inside this twisted Hell.

Clamoring for power
kaleidoscopic feelings overwhelm.
Romance now tastes sour
and yet still you yearn to taste.

Dragged down this
scarred abyss,
one phrase replays:
"What did I miss?"

Shrouded in tragedy
and drenched in pain
future's budding blossoms
decapitated and slain.

Words never cease
their gnawing and drones
and without a release,
you'll be stripped into bones.

Cease speaking hatred
and tell her the truth:
Was she but a puppet
for you in your youth?

Strung along into motion
and captured by falseties;
I've got the notion
you laugh as she bleeds

This was dark yet very beautiful. You take the reader and force them to drink your deepest thoughts. The flow as superb...like water off of a deltoid leaf. I was intrigued with every single line! I especially liked this verse:

Every promise broken
Every kiss betrayed
Words remain unspoken
Truth remains unplayed.
It seems as though you spoke of unrequitted love. Someone who fell in love with another that treated them badly...told them things or made promises that they never fulfilled. A lot of us have experienced the dark side of this tale. I aboslutely enjoyed reading this piece. Keep exercisin your gift. I look forward to reading more of your work.
