God laughs

With us...never at us.

God laughs you know

The voices in my head told me once.

When my life was horrific

And I questioned the Almighty 

I asked God why?

Why can you not just zap the devil?

Seemed logical enough to my tortured mind 

And I heard a voice there say

"You made the Lord laugh"

I think I tickled his sense of humour 

Not because He's cruel...never that.. 

Because 

He knew the full story

And he knows the ending

And he knew I wasn't really serious either

Just a wee joke between two friends 

Who get each other....

I liked this a lot Caroline. Regardless of our belief in God we all have this internal dialogue going on. Life has its ups and downs and we have to think through the path we will take. I'm bipolar myself and from time to time I have severe manic episodes so your internal voice is very real to me.

who hasn't reached one low or another in Faith ... emotions can over ride what we know Faith reveals .. i understand what you are saying ... for me the story telling in this doesn't quite "show" me ... it feels like more is needed in your telling ... i too believe that God has a chuckle now and again .. never cruel, as you say ... and never giving up on His end of things ... always His love ... always grace given that is sufficient ... I think the struggle between good and evil only involves human kind ... Satan can't get into God's presence .. his wickedness and pride repel him .. unless God permits it .. as in the story of Job. Satan battles for our wills ... one decision at a time. love your stuff ma'am! The three I have read all inspire me and bring our Lord into my thinking ... thanks you for sharing!

I really like the poem and its message. It reminds me of a song by Chris Rice that came out in the 90's I think:
None of us knows and that makes it a mystery
If life is a comedy, then why all the tragedy
Three and a half pounds of brain try to figure out
What this world is all about
And is there an eternity, is there an eternity?

God if you're there, I wish you'd show me

Thanks shelley..my poems are quite sombre tho I try to end with a hopeful note which is where I at in my life..but I wrote this one a bit more light heartedly..it hasn't all been doom and gloom lol
