if I can begin to believe it...I can begin to achieve it
"Have faith in me" I heard Him speak for the first time 30 years ago The voice I longed to hear.. I recognised it immediately for it was my very own soul And yet I am not my own saviour Jesus saved me long ago On a cross When I first gave my heart And yet I am still not saved I will be though It's a process you see And I need only to believe To trust Jesus, and to trust Him and trust Him... The saving is at the beginning and the end In between the ticks is the battle I just need to believe...
I'm checking out your poetry this morning, Saw that you're new to Writer's Cafe. I can relate to this poem. I was "saved" too in my teens. Now decades later, my view of what that means has changed. I used to think it was saved from punishment. I realize now that we are being saved in the sense that we're being changed. We're growing. And yes, it's a process.

So hard to hold that first source and center upfront in the face of so many of life's challenges and disappointment and horror to be sure. I don't buy into that whole "died for my sins thing". I don't believe he wanted to die in that way or to be martyred or revered more than God himself, all glory goes to God, I believe he died because of our sins, I believe he could have lived and taught to a ripe old age if humans were not such bloodthirsty animals. But, as all things do have a purpose his martyring has endured through hundreds of years and the masses still celebrate his life and accept him as the son. I do not have heroes, except the one and he is it... I do love me some Jesus.

I imagine it as a reaping, maybe the world dies of a pandemic, maybe the earth stops spinning, who knows for sure. Men wrote that bible as interpreters of the words that Jesus taught, Jesus did not write anything. Men are not infallible and I am sure they would have spun the story a bit to look more like a divine intervention than a "ooops" we just killed the prophet how do we not look bad in this scenario yet bring all to God at the same time..just my thoughts.
