CELEBRATE THE HOLY BIRTHA Poem by Carol ChannerA Christmas Poem
I celebrate the Holy Birth, as I read again the story Of the Son of God in the manger hay, of the angel's shining glory; Of the shepherds and the wise men, and the star that lit their way- The birth of Jesus long ago can still touch hearts today! With joy, I read the stories of His youthful days, and then, I marvel at the words He spoke to change the lives of men. His healing touch and gentle way, His miracles, His power- All make me yearn to walk a closer walk with Him each hour. It makes me weep to read of how He died at Calvary- The stripes, the thorns, the cross, the pain- He bore it all for me. They laid Him in a borrowed tomb; such shame He didn't deserve... But,
I thank God that I can say,
"That's not the Lord I serve!" The Lord I serve is not the Babe, nor boy, nor earthly man- He does not lie dead in that grave- for my Lord rose again! He rose again, victorious, and now in Heaven above, He readies for us a place to live in happiness and love. He will return as King of Kings, not as a baby sweet- 'Tis then He'll call His children home, and the powers of Satan defeat! All knees must bow; all voices sing the glory of His Name. We celebrate the Baby's birth, but we serve the Risen King! -Carol Channer
