Emily Dickinson Quote

"

Em Said It Best

Emily Dickinson spoke it well; an inspiring refrain:

"If I can stop one heart from breaking,

I shall not live in vain."

To live life in a hermit shell

Is not living life at all -

Loving, giving, sharing

Brings the greatest joys of all.

When we reach out to touch another

To lend encouragement

We reap the blessings from above

'Tis truly time well spent.

To lend a hand, to pat a back

To speak a word of peace -

May help an anguished soul in need

To find that sweet release.

It does not take much effort

To flash a smile and say

A word of kindness to each one

You'll pass along your way.

Try it now, just start today,

Yes, try it! And you'll see -

That happiness is multiplied

Through generosity!

Like Emily Dickinson, we can be

Sunshine through the rain

Our acts of kindness will assure

That life won't be in vain!
