Snowmelt

Snowmelt

A Poem by Carmon

snow melts in my eyes
that look into yours.
we'll hold hands til our fingers break
and we'll die here tonight.
but we won't go alone
with ice in our hair and sighs caught on our lips
this should be old age.

I'll hold on to you til you stop
when our hearts freeze in place
we'll be holding empty hands all night
cracks between fingers filling silently with snow
in the safety of the stars
