City Lights

City Lights

A Poem by CL
"

I wrote this when i was sitting at a place in my hometown me and my friends like to call the view, peering at the city lights.

"

The city lights, they elevate-

Rays streaking through the trees;
The great escape, i contemplate-
But my body disagrees.

The city lights, seem limited-

yet possibilities appear infinite.
Then again-

I never was very disciplined.

The city lights, sunken temptation,

forever in gyration,
it floats above my consciousness-
an undecided fixation-

the ideas, the messages,
it's as if they're fighting for dominance.

The city lights, look new to me tonight-

I struggle in my thoughts,
to a view i once thought so blight;

I can not help but to admire-

as I'm sitting here tonight.

The city lights, though captivating-

still my stomach does not sit right;
the great American illusion, these lights are fabricating-
moralities steadily worsening plight.
