A Savage Tenderness

A Savage Tenderness

A Poem by Carlton Carr

A savage tenderness
lies between
the bondage of the heart
and the heart’s cruel longing
for release

We play with it
like children
play with fire
and between our wisdom and desire
we burn

We sow
the seeds
that flame with crimson
and hold on to that
savage tenderness
we know

A touch of the old confessional about this - father I have sinned but I like it?
Cool piece of thinking - brave piece of thinking
