On Hearing That I Am HIV+

On Hearing That I Am HIV+

A Poem by Carlton Carr
"

In 1991 I had an HIV+ test. A subsequent test came back negative. It was only after two months and numerous tests that my doctor was able to confirm that the first result had been a 'false' positive.

"
Life is a death defying stunt

Yesterday shot from a cannon
today shot full of drugs
and tomorrow the thrown knives
may miss

I am a spinning target
for God knows what
my life as meaningless
as an empty circus plot
