Ghazal: I Have Hobbit Feet!A Poem by Carl TeegerstromThis draft is a second draft of a modification of an earlier poem: "I Have Hobbit Feet!"I love walking through the park, off the sidewalks with bare
feet. I don’t mind the pebbles or acorns because I have hobbit
feet! I grew tall, lanky, with a scruffy beard curling around my
cheek. I wear a size thirteen … and a half … so they’re as big as
hobbit feet. While I lean on the flaking bark scales of my favorite tree, I see them dangling from my legs, gnarled and sinewy as
hobbit feet. Long hairs curl across the top like fur, my middle toe’s
bulbous callous my pinky toe hides under its neighbor, they’re as ugly as
hobbit feet. My sole is rough like the old, dry leather of worn out boot they’re brown with dirt because I use them like hobbit feet. My Dad ran up the bill with different shoes because each pair either tore up or was torn up by my blistered feet. I was always meant to walk barefoot on the grass and
writhing roots so my Dad joked: “Carl , you must have hobbit feet!” © 2016 Carl TeegerstromAuthor's Note
