The Flames

The Flames

A Poem by Carlouse

The fire builds inside, it slithers through your every pore and as it grows you feel more and more alive…
You feel it burning with no escape, you swallow your words with nothing left to show for your pain, but the bitter aftertaste…
You drown alone along the alcoves of your own filth…
At that moment her words become clear…
Your hope fades away along with what little closure you had…
Fear not death but what follows…
You lay alone, breathing but more dead then anything…
Her lips tremble…
Her will diminishes…
Her strength collapses…
And her eyes seal shut…
Only as the tears spill out…
Scattered across your face…
The light redeems them, like shards of passion…
The evidence scattered across your cadaver…
