A Poem by inclement weather
"

I explored themes with memory loss and continuous love. bittersweet? i guess?

"

We walk together through a house with weathered floors.

You tell me that my mother lives here.

We have two cats. They’re with my brother for a while.

Then we leave. Soon, we’re walking up the steps of an apartment complex.

You recite my name, then yours. You ask me to say it.

I repeat it, but the word sounds and feels so foreign on my tongue.

We’re in an apartment. It’s a quaint living space.

This is where we live together, you say.

The hospital called you; I asked why, but you just told me it was work.

I think it’s the next day when,

Once more, we walk together through a house with weathered floors.

You tell me that my mother lives here.

We have two cats. They’re with my brother for a while. Have I heard this before?

Then we leave. Soon, we’re walking up the steps of an apartment complex again.

You recite my name, then yours. You ask me to say it. I do.

You tell me you love me over and over. You’d fall in love with me over and over.

You would continue to guide me. To say my name. To say yours.

To tell me you love me. To start over again.

But I can’t even remember

Your name.
