songbird

A Poem by inclement weather
"

the consequences of pressure and expectations? i guess? i don't put that much thought into meaning for my stuff mate i don't know what to tell you..

"

There is a singer who makes music without a voice.

They call her Songbird.

Songbird cannot speak. She cannot sing.

She opens her mouth, but it seems as if a sad piano can only play.

Where has the girl gone

That would spout out melodies all day?

There is a singer who makes music without a voice.

They call her Songbird.

The crowd has started to fade from the performances.

They grow tired. They’re bored.

Songbird can’t sing.

They’re tired of expecting new tricks from an old bird.

There is a singer who makes music without a voice.

They call her Songbird.

News headlines say that Songbird is gone.

They said expectations were too much; she couldn’t handle it.

And so her wings failed. Another soul lost to the world, they say.

The crowd is enraged; she couldn’t even give a song before she died?

But that’s because birds don’t sing, they just fall from the sky.

It’s how they say their final goodbye.
