A Book Is A Fridge

A Book Is A Fridge

A Poem by som

Open a fridge
And see what's inside
Open a book
And behold your mid

Left over foods from yesterday
Located at the bottom left
Recall what you've read the last time
To get that feeling again

Chocolates located at the upper part of the door
That will make you awake all night
The mango-flavored ice cream in the freezer
That could give you a sweet taste of winter

The pizzas and sodas
In the middle part of the fridge
How delicious it would be to eat
Under the warm moonlight

The milk that sits on the rack
That gives strength to the bones
To support the toil
Of the brain that works

A fridge is like a book
Once you open it
A lot of things can be found
A lot of ideas travel your mind

Amazing read here, This is so well written and so well said.

I haven't been reading at the cafe for a couple weeks (writing binge) & so this is my first poem that I'm reading in a while. This is a brilliant poem! I love the analogy & I love that you use so many popping details that appeal to all the senses. I feel this poem, overall, is more focused on the fridge, but not so much the book. I would've loved to see more observations of the book experience, using bright details like you describe what's in the fridge. But I wouldn't change this poem. I'm just saying, in the future, don't be afraid to take your time & dive in to even more details (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie
