vacant heart

vacant heart

A Poem by dare to fall?

I cant stop running away

Someone lovely came along

And yet im still chasing after something that doesn’t exist

It’s a long shot

But I feel like I still love you

You left almost one year ago

And I know im over it

But I don’t know why im forced to feel this way about you still

I think I am in love with the person I thought you were

And im afraid that ill meet another who will break me

And rip my heart into shreds again

It replays in my head over and over

And I cant help but fear it

The poem captures the lingering pain and uncertainty of a past heartbreak, as the speaker grapples with unresolved emotions and the fear of future rejection. The opening line, "I cant stop running away," sets the tone for a journey of introspection and emotional turbulence.

The speaker's encounter with "someone lovely" sparks a glimmer of hope, but the lingering attachment to the past love casts a shadow over this new connection. The phrase "yet im still chasing after something that doesn’t exist" highlights the elusive nature of the speaker's longing, chasing after a memory rather than embracing the present.

The admission of feeling like they "still love you" despite the year that has passed reveals the depth of the speaker's emotional wounds. The line "I know im over it" signifies a conscious effort to move on, yet the speaker is still "forced to feel this way about you still," suggesting an ingrained emotional connection that remains unbroken.

The speaker identifies their love for an idealized version of the person they thought their former partner was, acknowledging that this unrealistic perception may hinder their ability to form genuine connections in the future. The fear of being "broken" and "ripped into shreds again" stems from the past trauma, creating a protective barrier that prevents them from fully opening up to new love.

The repetitive nature of the haunting memories, "It replays in my head over and over," emphasizes the power of the past to shape the present. The speaker's inability to escape these ™оспоминания reinforces the need for healing and emotional closure.

The poem concludes with a palpable sense of vulnerability, as the speaker confronts their fears and the uncertainty that lies ahead. The vulnerability reflects the raw emotions and the speaker's willingness to face their inner demons.

Overall, the poem "vacant heart" delves into the complexities of heartbreak, the lingering pain, and the challenges of moving on. It highlights the resilience of the human spirit and the ability to find hope amidst uncertainty.
