I met you in a dream

ages ago. 

You swept my breath away,

can I say,

I didn’t know, yet I sensed

you would be one to stay.

I was thrilled,

I was scared,

my heart trilled,

my eyes glared.

I met you in a dream

ages ago,

but I kept

you at arms length

I knew I’d be swept

off my feet;

how could I not retreat?

Your eyes that clung

to me; so I would run,

they sucked me back

like mud beneath my tracks;

of course I was scared! 

I would sink! 

I’d be pulled beneath the brink!

I met you in a dream

ages ago,

and I saw in your deep eyes

that you were decided,

you were done,

it’s what I wanted,

yet I wanted to run. 

I saw that you were so far gone

and I feared

lest I’d be lost as well. 

But, I think,

I found myself there,

looking for that thing I sought

precisely where it was,

and I was not.

I'd label this write a marvelous written Song. I even read it as a song, still am screaming this line

Wonderful write... Am feeling good to read this song. You've a very nice capturing power about the moments .. about the memories of life and so on to pen into the words. The feelings of yours're warm, smooth and sensible to feel through this well penned song. Nice work, you pretty. I loved the song ..even i love seeing someone as wonderful/beautiful as you see dreams of peace to live life nicely.

Great poem! The imagery is very sharp here. Nice repetition, too. Reminds me of a quote from "Into the Wild". It goes something like this: “Some people feel like they don't deserve love. They walk away quietly into empty spaces, trying to close the gaps of the past.”
