Devastated

Devastated

A Poem by Cari Lynn Vaughn
"

Feeling destroyed by loss

"

Devastated

You invaded and penetrated the loving fortress

Of my aching and lonely soul

But then fell in love with her life    Her mess

Leaving me desolate without control

I mourned your passing to her

Raging and feeling bitterly betrayed

I once believed your love the only cure

Hoping our romance merely delayed

When she broke your fragile heart

It tore you                  utterly apart

But then you found your way back to me

And we made love so tenderly

She left you devastated   queasy

Destroying your confidence completely

So how is it you found it so easy

To then lay waste to our love   to me

Now that the deed is done       you run

Wiping out all trust and sense of security

Not caring if I am left alone without the sun

Not even noticing the devastation you

                                            return upon me

I once cried for your sudden shock and pain

I reached out to help heal the endless rain

But now it is I who needs a friend to assist

in the process of recovering from our tragic tryst
