Soft Edge

Soft Edge

A Poem by Cari Lynn Vaughn
"

Learning how to grieve

"

                            Soft Edge

My gentle pain can cut

but by my sharpness I heal

One door opens another is shut

I cannot help how I feel

A thousand blades turn

into grains of sand

by my love that will burn

by my compassionate hand

I have an obsidian edge

softened by the moonlight

standing precariously on a ledge

I realize that I must now fight

Defending my heart and soul

I find the strength to leave

not stealing back what you stole

learning how, at last, to grieve
