Happy DaggerA Poem by Cari Lynn VaughnA poem for Shakespeare's JulietHappy Dagger
Happy dagger Juliet cried Her life poisoned away when her love Romeo died She could not bare to stay
Rivers flowed from her eyes Drying up her inner spring God did not hear her cries Her prayers meant nothing
An explosion of pulsing pain A throb in her aching breast Love left but an awful stain He could she ever rest
The hand clutched it too tight her hurt heart seeking release Begged for the final fatal fight Do It End it All End it please
Juliet plunged it down deep The sharp silver shinning blade Unlocked life’s killer keep And let her lovely light fade
Her last breath barely drawn The enemy now defeated the blood has gushed and gone unclenched the quest is completed
