Black SwanA Poem by Cari Lynn VaughnUnexpectedly Falling In LoveBlack Swan Gracefully you glide on gilded lakes Your eyes soulful in their mourning Your call sounds a lonely warning The Black Swan wins against all stakes Unexpectedly you swim figure eights In my head in the pool of my surprised heart hardened by so many lies I fight the usual fights
Struggling to understand the impossibility of just how you came to exist in a monochromatic world of purity today Could my eyes deceive me so completely I should have seen this in plain hindsight That you’d come to materialize here The connection is undeniably clear Because your darkness is radiant bright
Caressing your silky feathers for a clue What defense could I offer against you Made breathless by something so rare reaching out to see if you dare care
