In The Dark

In The Dark

A Poem by Cari Lynn Vaughn
"

When a loved one leaves you in the dark

"

                 In the Dark

Standing in your lime-colored light

I was the star in the heart of your eyes

Knowing that true love therein lies

All the world was my stage so bright

Just like that the world went dark

No applause at the end of the act

No explanation and no sense of tact

Wondering if I missed my mark

Left alone with only my faith and hope

That after this intermission is more

Longing for your attention that I adore

I wait and wait unsure of just how to cope

Peering into the distance shadows beyond

Thinking that with my heart you did abscond

This was beautifully written. I loved the metaphor of the theatre; as an actress, it really spoke to me. The emotions behind this were very clear. Good job! I loved it! :)
