Ice Cream Assasin

Ice Cream Assasin

A Poem by Cari Lynn Vaughn
"

Depression can kill

"

Ice Cream Assassin

An agent of Ben and Jerry’s

She sits silently by and by

Amid vanilla and cherries

Waiting for your long sigh

She wields a silver spoon

Digging deeper each night

Then sleeping until noon

Her weapon you can’t fight

Sweeter than the fiery light

She won’t betray your secret life

With wrinkles or bitter bite

A perfect friend and dutiful wife

She is the Ice Cream Queen

An assassin of large proportion

Offering safety from the mean

the cruel world of distortion

When you’re feeling a little blue

She lures you with her siren call

Promising to fill and satisfy you

But she lets you fall and fall

Weighted down by your heart

This femme fatal of fat

You’ll never out smart

Unless depression you combat
