Love's Long Labor

Love is hard work.

Concieved in the dreams of this desire

I am pregnant with the possibilty of pain

that love could deliver in its intense fire

 

There is beauty in this breathless creation

yet I am weighed down by exhaustion

in far of the effect of this elusive elation

Love is a long labor throughout our days

permeating and punctuating each choice

filling our heart in so many different ways

 

It is not the beginning, but the end in this birth

When we stop carrying the burden of our mirth
