Shades

Shades

A Poem by Cari Lynn Vaughn
"

Seeing one thing in many

"

Shades

A shadow of a former flame

Present in the awakening of desire

A lover by any other name

Would still leave you burned by the fire

Yes, there are endless shades of him

that I can still make out   though dim

A perpetual pattern in the echo

A dynamic that I just can’t let go

Five times five or fifty shades more

I am bound by my passion   my aching need

Until I can find a way to thoroughly explore

Why this particular darkness   indeed
