Here I Am

Here I Am

A Poem by ★ Aeryn Harmonica Truckfinn ★
"

Dabbling in rhyme. Not something I plan to continue.

"
Here I am,
And there you are.
We're not together,
And that's too far.

I sit alone
While tears trickle down my cheeks.
I can't feel whole
When I haven't seen you for weeks.

I yearn for the safety
Of your warm embrace.
I long for the smile
That lights up your face.

But the distance remains,
And we stay apart.
I need you beside me
To mend this lonely heart.

Here I am,
If only you were too.
We're not together,
But we will be soon.

This is heartbreaking and extremely well-written. I love how at first you start off with sorrow and and pain, and end with a glimmer of hope and the distant promise of a reunion.
