Give Me A Reason

by: Gypsy (a.k.a. Cassie)

I’m *gasp* gay!

Yea I know

Cue the mothers weeping

And eyes growing as big as saucers

Is there really anything wrong with me?

I’m still Cassie

The girl who dances to her ipod’s tune

On her dance floor of shag carpet

I still love the stage

The way it makes me feel

As I belt out that last note.

So what my heart beats for a different drummer?

And I come home clutching a girls hand

No different than my brothers.

You won’t have to worry about those pesky boys

With only one thing on their mind

Lesbian means loving girls

When you're one to begin with

Is love really so bad?

There would be no friends if there was no love

But do we call the two nine year olds in the park

Holding hands and hugging

Lesbians?

No.

Do we call the two thirteen year olds

Sharing a bed at sleepovers

Lesbians?

No.

Do we call the two nineteen year olds

Who want to figure out the world

In the arms of those they love

Lesbians?

Yes.

So go on. Hate me, just do me a favor first.

Give me a reason why.
