A Poem by xo Astral Rain
"

A poem that I wrote four years ago, but it's been polished and edited since then.

"
HUSH

sew shut loose lips, veil curiosity wrought eyes,
draw the shutters on your heart; the words might escape.
“we can’t let them hear”

scream

as the iron hooks drag through the supple skin of your mind,
let loose those words that make your tongue wag and pant.
“ohmygosh, you have to hear this”

BEQUIET

those microscopic pieces of sand have yet to drop;
your moment is still enclosed in that fragile house of sand.
“shh, it’s okay. we still have time… i think”

yell

not to distract, but to camouflage your secrets "
you know, the ones bleeding your heart dry, you sinner.
“if anyone were to ever find out…”

SILENCE

don’t let the noise overwhelm you, drown you out,
don’t forget that melody; oh? you don’t know? the one that keeps you sane.
“i can’t forget, i can’t forget; i have to remember…”

shout

the words that are torn from berry red lips
with hollow truth and rickety structures to conceal… what?
“is it reality or is it just my perception?”

INAUDIBLE CACOPHONY

hide what you mean, pray for the silence to remain;
oh you walking conundrum, we all know you want the world to know your lies.
“please, someone hear me; i need someone to know the truth”

SOUNDLESS PANDEMONIUM

go ahead and cry little girl, you’re trapped in your prison.
throw your fit, deflect the words you know are true.
“sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never harm me”

keep telling that pretty lie.
we can all see what it’s done to you.
