Can't Say

Can't Say

A Poem by Sunny

I cant say Ive come to the point where it matters

The point where you and me are just one

And not these two seperate beings

I cant say Ive come to the point where it matters

I cant say Ive seen the light

Im still walking around in darkness

Bumping into walls and doors

Getting bruised like a peach

I cant say Ive seen the light

I cant say Ive changed

I think Im still the same

Stubborn, naughty, quiet, lazy, weird, loving, yours

Im still everything you dont want

I cant say Ive changed

I cant say none of this

Mostly cause of pride

But mostly cause I refuse to not hide

I wanna stay sheltered and safe

Im not ready to be enlighted, renewed, restored

Im not ready to grow and open the windows and doors

Im wanna stay here where things make sense

And life has a carefree essence

I cant keep this up

Im way to old to be holdin on to an innocence that already been sold

... it's a well written poem ... it's very appealing visually too ... because of the way the lines have been written and presented ... the last two lines stand out ... and make a prominent statement ... though (maybe it's because i'm an idealist at heart) i do feel that innocence can't be sold ... i remember being in a workshop where the facilitator took a currency note and he stamped it and crumpled it and wiped dust with it ... then he asked us if it had lost its value ... and we had to say no ... and he said that's how bad experiences are ... they may squash us but they can't take our value away from us ... yet i see your point about not wanting to be "enlightened" ... "renewed" ... "restored" ... no one should be compelled into behaving in a particular way based on someone else's expectations of precisely how they should ... every individual needs a fair bit of freedom to evolve and grow ... perhaps ... therefore ... the answer lies in believing in innocence ... knowing ... through a process of free thinking ... that one's core is intact ... once we know our value ... it takes no time for us to be of value to others as well ... and i think ... "Stubborn, naughty, quiet, lazy, weird, loving, yours" ... is pretty exciting ... :) ...
