springA Poem by Anonymous 79third installment to my poem series (previous is "winter")vase of yellow roses, season of broken hearts I watched as the years of separation tore them apart rainstorms batter and abuse the purple fields of heather distance made them forget when they said "best friends forever" she fell for my daughter when she came home from away but my daughter didn't see her feelings and turned her friend away I was on the outside looking in as it built up in july watching two girls fall apart, both telling broken lies vase of yellow roses, season of broken hearts the sun was shining brightly but they were lost in the dark she told me about the note she gave her friend, how she ran before she cried I think that's the moment that the fields of heather died it took weeks of avoidance, weeks of rain until both of them finally admitted their pain my daughter went back to her friend, her attempt was in vain years of friendship were, by heartbreak, stained vase of yellow roses, season of broken hearts I wonder if they'll ever try for a fresh start even after rainstorms, fields of heather grow back I hope their friendship hasn't turned to something hateful and black
