Darker Days

Darker Days

A Poem by Pseudonym Mindless

I am 16 years old, 16 years young,
A millennial child born into an
Era that sees the foreign and thinks of destruction.
I did not see 9/11 but I saw
The terror the terrorists inspired, and all,
The hateful acts fear has brought us.
War against innocents, giving
People reason to hate us.

I grew up with white privilege, with parents who work.
I've got money to follow my dreams but still I
Can't help but see how messed up the world around me
Is. The land of the free.
Freedom has always been for the white man,
Slavery for "blacks" and ""japs," and for
Anyone who didn't fit the mold quite right.

We built our wall when we founded ourselves,
Government and economy based on the
Suppression of others,
Democracy in a republic where the
Rich rule and poor serve.
Sounds a bit like hypocrisy, like
Social tyranny, dictators, fascists-
Like a bunch of sheep blindly following wolves.

I was born in the year 2000,
Never have I known peace, always there has been
Fear. We had a new millennium, a lifetime deal, but
It is now that our world is changing.
I can't vote for my future, not right now, it is up

To the people who have been following wolves for too long.

A presidential race just another crooked piece in a
Corrupt puzzle. A picture always tainted.
Two versions, you look back, which one to trust?
In all reality all we know is ourselves right now,
Too many lies, too many twists and turns, too many
People looking for problems elsewhere to look at the
Problems right here within our state.

We have many.

Finally the world can see just how corrupt we still are,
We always have been. It's not like
Police just randomly started shooting black men, or
Any Men started shooting police.
God salute the service but our culture is built on
Inequality and destroying rebellion.
Well now we want rebellion we want to break the
Norm. We want to break the tradition of
Hatred and bring in love.

I can not vote. I only hope to change.

Just a rant about the US government, typed on my phone. Don't really know what it is, I kinda blanked on it and just went with it. Please ignore grammatical errors.

Awesome poem!!!!! So much truth. I would like to say there will be change but I feel society is so distracted by irrelevance that when something relevant happens most won't expect it.

We need more of our leaders to stop talking and start acting. I too hope for change
